Protests have been growing in the Kachin region about the continued attacks of the Myanmar Army. There is also disillusionment that there has been so little comment by national politicians about the situation. When we started to take our book to press at the time of the general election in 2015, we were concerned that the political ground would have shifted so much by the time of publication that some of the chapters would seem to have been overtaken by events. Instead, one year later, the lessons from the book seem more pertinent than ever. We invite comments about how these lessons can enter the political discourse in Myanmar in constructive ways.
